GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A gunman shot dead Tuesday a former municipal treasurer outside a church in Barangay Labangal, this city.

Sr. Supt. Raul Supiter, city police director, identified the victim as Francis Nadar, 40, who formerly served as municipal treasurer of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.

The victim was gunned down by an unidentified assailant after attending a prayer meeting at the Foursquare Church in Barangay Labangal, this city.

The victim was shot in the head with a .45-caliber pistol.

Police tagged Nadar as a member of a local drug network operating in Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani.

Nadar’s sister, Jocelyn, incumbent municipal treasurer of Palimbang and her husband, Jojo were nabbed by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a raid on their house in Barangay San Isidro, this city last November 2017.

The suspects yielded some 50 grams of shabu.

Police said the suspects belong to the Sogis local drug network operating in Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat.

Nadar’s killing took place amid calls by members of the City Council to stop the spate of summary killings in the city which had reached at least 20 incidents this year.
