WestMinCom chief visits soldiers in Basilan

The Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) chief commended soldiers of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Basilan for the operational accomplishments of battalions in his visit to the troops in Basilan on Saturday, March 16.

Lt. Gen. Arnel Dela Vega paid a courtesy visit on the troops of the 64th Infantry Battlion in Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The WestMincom commander also discussed the security situation in Sumisip, and acknowledged the efforts of the local government in maintaining the peace and order in Sumisip area.

“With the support and commitment of local officials and the Basileños, we are paving the way for security and development in Basilan," Dela Vega said.

He and other local and military officials also surveyed the Basilan Transcentral Road.

“We will strengthen this cooperation and continue our anti-terrorism campaign to maintain internal security in the province,” he added.

Dela Vega was received by Col. Fernando Reyeg, the JTF Basilan Commander.
