DAGUPAN CITY – A disgruntled driver may have taken vengeance against his former boss, an American citizen who was found dead, together with her household helper, last Friday in Barangay Lasip, Grande in Mangaldan, Pangasinan.
Dagupan chief of police Supt. Jandale Sulit disclosed that they now have in custody the former driver of the victim, who was said to have been fired by American citizen Rosalina Esteves just days before the murder incident.
The driver was one of seven persons of interest who have been invited for questioning by the police.
“Lumaki ang ebidensiya na sangkot ang dating driver ng biktima nang may magtestigo na nakita itong umakyat sa bakuran ng araw maganap ang krimen (The evidence linking the former driver to the crime was bolstered when a wintess said the suspect was seen climbing the fence of the victim’s place on the day when the crime was committed),” Sulit told The Manila Bulletin.
Sulit added that it was also learned that the suspect was fired from his work by Esteves just days before after failing to pay his debt with his boss.
Esteves, 68, and her househelp Lorrainne Camid, 39, were allegedly battered to death.
“Nawalan siya ng trabaho at pagkakakitaan at marahil ito ang ugat ng matinding galit nito sa matanda (He lost his job and source of livelihood. Perhaps that was the cause why he had so much hatred for the old lady),” an investigator told.
Police said that last Friday morning, Jonathan Zamudio, a 39-year-old construction worker found the body of Camid sprawled on the floor of the house under construction in Barangy Lasip Grande, and that of Esteves in her bed with a bed sheet over her face.
“Isang matigas na bagay ang ginagamit para patayin ang dalawa (A blunt object was used to kill the two victims),” Sulit said.
