A dentist was arrested by the police after he yielded a pack of dried marijuana leaves while being inspected at the entrance of Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) Cubao Station in Quezon City on Friday afternoon.
Quezon City Police Station 7 chief, Superintendent Giovanni Caliao, identified the suspect as Royce Albert Esteban, 28, a resident of Barangay 520 in Sampaloc, Manila.
Police report showed that Esteban was supposed to enter at the South Entrance Gate of the train station in Araneta Center, Cubao at past 4:30 p.m. when the duty security guard frisked him for inspection.
During checking, LRT security personnel Eugene Abalon recovered from the right front pocket of the suspect’s scrub suit a cigarette pack and a rolled paper.
When he opened the items, he found out that both were containing suspected dried marijuana leaves.
This prompted Abalon to report the incident to personnel of nearby PS-7 who immediately arrested Esteban.
The arrested suspect will be presented before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest for possession of illegal drugs or violation of Section 11 under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
