Motorcyle rider killed, four others injured in road mishap

A motorcycle rider was killed while four others were injured during an evening road accident on Sunday in Parañaque City.

The victim was identified Mark Jesus Sari, 23, a resident of Serrano St. Caloocan City. Sari was brought to the Las Piñas District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

On the other hand, three passengers of a motorcycle with a sidecar including its driver Roderick Milo, were brought to the Ospital ng Parañaque and are currently under observation.

Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 8:15 in the evening along  Service Road in front of Our Lady of Peace Hospital, Brgy. San Dionisio, Parañaque City.

According to police, Milo who was driving a Kawasaki BCl75F motorcycle, registered, was traversing Service Road heading towards Baclaran while Sari was on the opposite direction driving a Suzuki Motorcycle with Plate Number 3765-OP.

However, upon reaching the front of Our Lady of Peace Hospital, both the front portion of the vehicles collided, resulting to the incident. The two drivers, including Milo’s passengers, were all injured and were brought to separate hospitals.

Sari was pronounced dead on arrival at 9:50 in the evening. Milo will be facing charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide and Multiple Physical Injuries with Damage to Property.  (Dhel Nazario)

Korean caught shoplifting in Quezon City

A 59-year-old Korean businessman was nabbed by the police after stealing two toothpaste worth more than P300 inside a supermarket at Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City Sunday afternoon.

Investigators of Quezon City Police District identified the suspect as Kim Seoung-do, a native of Busan in South Korea, and presently residing at New Capital Estate I in Barangay Batasan Hills.

Police report showed that Kim posed as a customer at a supermarket inside Ever Gotesco mall at around 3:45 p.m.

While looking through items, Kim immediately took two Dentiste’ Plus White toothpaste and hid it in his right front pocket of his short pants.

Kim also took an insect killer before proceeding to the cashier where he purchased it.

The suspect was about to went out of the supermarket without paying the toothpaste when he was barred by a civilian security guard of the mall who saw him took the unpaid items worth P378.

Authorities immediately brought the suspect to the mall’s security office after he failed to show a receipt of the toothpaste before he was turned over to the police station where he is currently detained. (Alexandria San Juan)

Six persons, including a criminology student, nabbed in buy-bust operation

Six persons including a father and his son and a criminology student were arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City before dawn Monday.

Quezon City Police Station 6 commander, Superintendent Joel Villanueva, identified the arrested suspects as Romel Lavadia, 46, his son Bojay Lavadia, Bojay, 21, and their companions Gian Nortega, 20, a criminology student, Karl Memita, 20, Jheo Datan, 21, and Jello Valenzuela, 21, all residents of Brgy. Holy Spirit.

Police officers said they were tipped off about illegal drug activities of the group led by Bojay who was selling marijuana in their area.

This prompted personnel of PS-6 Drug Enforcement Unit to conduct a buy-bust operation against the men at around 2:20 a.m.

An undercover police operative purchased P100 worth of marijuana from Bojay inside their house.

Upon handing the money to the suspect, officers immediately nabbed Bojay and his companions.

Confiscated from them were three sachets of marijuana, several drug paraphernalia, and the buy-bust money.

According to the police, all arrested suspects were newly identified drug personalities in their area.

The men are now under police custody and facing drug-related charges.  (Alexandria San Juan)

Man stabbed to death by drinking buddy

A man died on the spot after his drinking buddy stabbed and smacked a parking barrier into his head in Ermita, Manila early morning Monday.

Police identified the fatality as Alex Zabalete, about 40 to 50 years old, and resident of #768 Malvar Street, Malate, Manila; while the suspect as Rennie Rapsing, 46, married, technical maintenance, and a native of Masbate.

Initial investigation disclosed that the two were having a drinking spree in a videoke bar when a heated argument erupted between them past 1 a.m. on Feb. 25.

Amid their confrontation, the victim decided to walk out and go inside his sidecar parked along P. Hidalgo corner Malvar Streets to sleep.

However, the suspect, already armed with a kitchen knife, followed him surreptitiously.

Thereafter, the former stabbed the latter multiple times in the body.

Still not content, he took a parking barrier and smacked it on the head of the victim.

Witnesses tried to arrest the suspect but he refused to yield and hid inside the Victoria D’ Manila condominium.

They then reported to the police leading to the suspect’s apprehension.

Authorities recovered the parking barrier stained with the victim’s blood as evidence.

The suspect is now detained at the Manila Police District (MPD) Homicide Section, facing a murder rap. (Ria Fernandez)

Man in critical condition after being shot in Taguig

A man who was just buying food on the street is now in critical condition after he was shot by two men in broad daylight in Taguig City on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Jeffrey Castro, 26, machine operator, a resident of Ranger St., Purok 1A, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.

One of the suspects was identified as Rushell Cobilla, 29, a resident of Purok 1A, CP Tinga Street, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City. The other suspect remains unidentified while both of them are still at large.

Initial investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 10:40 in the morning along San Diego Street, Purok 1A, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.

Police said that prior to the incident, the victim was about to buy taho when the suspects suddenly appeared and shot the victim, hitting him twice in the left abdomen.

Castro was able to get assistance from his friend in the area and was rushed to the Taguig Pateros District Hospital for treatment. The suspects on the other hand immediately fled on foot.  (Dhel Nazario)
