Former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director Alan Purisima is asking permission from the Sandiganbayan Sixth Division to travel to Indianapolis and California, USA, from March 25 to April 19.
In his motion to travel, Purisima said that he wishes to attend the National Book and Annual Meeting for 2019 of the Royal Order of Jesters, which will be held at Indianapolis from April 3 to 7, 2019.
He also hopes to attend the Book of the Play of Oakland Court #6, Fresno Court #157, which will be held on April 10 to 14 at Yosemite National Park in California.
“Accused Purisima, as a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Manila Court no. 198, has been appointed as its representative in the abovementioned event and is required to attend the said meeting,” the motion read.
After the meeting, Purisima said he wants to maximize his travel by visiting his relatives who are residing in California.
In his travel motion, Purisima said that he is not a flight risk. He had returned to the country after previous travels which the court allowed, Purisima said.
He is facing a graft charge in relation to the alleged anomalous courier service deal that the PNP got into way back in 2011.
Purisima also has a pending graft and usurpation charge before the Fourth Division in connection to the botched police operation in Mamasapano last 2016, which resulted in the deaths of 44 SAF troopers.
Moreover, he has eight perjury charges before the Second Division due to his failure to declare the properties of his wife, Maria Ramona Lydia Purisima, in his Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) for the years 2006 to 2009, as well as 2011 to 2014.
He also filed the same travel motion before these divisions.
