SPO1 Franklin Nariz and PO3 Tristan Callao are the first casualties of President Duterte's directive that policemen should not drink in public places as the public is losing respect on them.

The PNP leadership then expanded Duterte's directive by stipulating that it will also run after policemen who would drink in public places even if they are in civilian uniform and are not on duty.

Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat, head of the Counter-Intelligence Group (CITF), said the operation stemmed from a complaint about the two cops who were engaged in a drinking session at the Korabs Canteen in Barangay Socorro in Quezon City.

Nariz is assigned to the Maritime Group at Camp Crame while Callao is assigned to the Headquarters Support Service also at Camp Crame.

Caramat said administrative charges will be filed against the two policemen based on the directive of Duterte which was made as an order of PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde last month.

Albayalde specifically declared nightclubs, beer gardens, karaoke bars, and pubs, as strictly off limits to all PNP personnel, including establishments of ill-repute, illegal gambling dens and other places devoted to vices.

“This is a specific directive of the Chief Executive, violation of which is tantamount to Grave Misconduct that is punishable by dismissal from the service,” said Albayalde.

He then reminded all personnel to conduct themselves properly at all times in keeping with the rules and regulations of the organization in accord with the PNP Ethical Doctrine and the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethical Standards.
