Mine explosion injures CAFGU member

An explosion slightly wounded a Civilian Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) member in Maguindanao on Tuesday, February 12.

The wounded person was one of the members of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary under the 23rd CAA, Delta Company, 38th Infantry Battalion, who are conducting regular security patrol
at Sitio Pansol, Brgy. Macasampen, Guindulungan Maguindanao.

The explosion caused by an anti-personnel mine which was placed near an old nipa hut just 50 meters away from the national highway happened at around 7:30 in the morning.

Troops of the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion together with the Guindulungan Municipal Police immediately responded and enhanced the security in the area for the possibility more attacks.

“The explosion was meant to inflict harm to our troops just in time (as) they were passing to conduct their regular security in the area,” said 6th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana.

The wounded CAFGU member was immediately brought to Camp Siongco Station Hospital here for proper medical treatment.
