“Let me begin by expressing sympathies to the families who suffered loss of lives and injuries in the barbaric blasts that happened in Jolo,” Zhao said this during the celebration of the 118th founding anniversary of Manila Police District (MPD) along United Nations Avenue, Manila on Monday, adding that “China condemns all acts of violence.”

The diplomat then assured his government’s continued support to the peace efforts of the Duterte administration.

“[China] will continue to support the peace process and will continue to participate in the economic and social development of Mindanao,”

Prior to this, Zhao formally turned over 50 brand new e-motorcycles to Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada at the MPD grounds.

“This donation will be of great benefit to our Manila Police District and will do add to their capabilities in patrolling our streets, preventing criminal activities, and securing the safety of our public,” Estrada said in his speech.

Zhao, accompanied by Estrada and newly-promoted MPD director Chief Supt. Vicente Danao, Jr., also laid wreath at the memorial of Manila’s Finest gallant officers who died in the line of duty.
