Troops seize war materials after clash with NPAs in Negros Oriental

Troops from the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion under the 302nd Infantry Brigade seized a number war materials following an encounter with the New People’s Army Terrorists (NPA) in Negros Oriental over the weekend, the military disclosed Monday.

A report reaching the 302nd IB headquarters in Camp Rajah Sikatuna, Barangay Katipunan, Carmen, Bohol, disclosed the soldiers encountered at least 10 members of the communist terrorist group while they were on community support program in Barangay Tacpao, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, at 4:50 a.m. Saturday.

The firefight lasted for about 15 minutes after which the NPAs scampered to various directions.

There was no casualty on the government side while all indications show a number of casualties on the enemy side as bloodstains were found in the rebels’ escape route.

After the encounter, the troops seized firearms and war materials, including a Colt .45 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with nine rounds of ammunitions; 200 rounds of M16 rifle ammunitions; nine rounds of M14 rifle ammunitions; nine rounds of AK 47 rifle ammunitions; 11 M16 rifle magazines; two AK47 rifle magazines; one unit of Baofeng commercial radio; a watch and three NPA bull caps.

Troops are still on pursuit and clearing operations as part of efforts to neutralize the enemy.
