The social media icon Boo the Pomeranian has died Friday due to heart problems.

He was 12.

Boo’s owner confirmed on Facebook, which has over 16 million followers, that Boo passed away in his sleep.

In 2017, Boo’s best friend, Buddy, also died and this is when Boo started to experience his heart problems.

“Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort. We know that Buddy was the first to greet him on the other side of that rainbow bridge, and this is likely the most excited either of them have been in a long time,” the owner said on Facebook.

The owner also explained that Boo showed signs of heart issues when his fellow canine friend Buddy left them for good.

“He hung on and gave us over a year. But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven.”
Since the spring of 2006, Boo and Buddy became the best of friends when Boo officially joined them.

Boo’s owners also expressed their gratitude to the Adobe Animal Hospital and Sage Veterinary Centers for taking care of the buddies before they died.

“Boo, we love you with all our hearts and will miss you until the day we meet again. Have fun running around with Buddy and creating adorable mischief wherever you guys go.”

In July 2011, the canine social media sensation had a book published titled “Boo: The Life of the World’s Cutest Dog.”
