The Department of Education (DepEd) on Saturday announced that the deadline of nominations for the 2019 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos has been extended.
In a statement, DepEd and Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) announced the extension of nominations for the 2019 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos – Award for Teachers until Jan. 31.
DepEd said that the search is open to “all Filipino educators teaching in the elementary level, including kindergarten level, provided it is part of the integrated curriculum or part of an elementary school system; and secondary or tertiary level, including graduate school and alternative learning system.
Teacher-nominees must also have full-time or permanent appointment and with full teaching load.”
A total of four teachers will join three soldiers and three police officers to comprise this year’s Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos.
Each awardee shall receive a medal, trophy, and a cash incentive of P1 million, part of which will be allocated to the faculty development project, subject to the approved proposal of the endorsing school. Each of the national finalists will receive P50,000.
The nominations must come from any of the following: School principals, teachers-in-charge (TICs), or district/ division/ regional supervisors. The detailed guidelines are accessible through DepEd Memorandum No. 184, series of 2018, or the 2019 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos–Award for Teachers.
DepEd said that the award “aims to recognize outstanding Filipinos who are responsible citizens, exemplary public servants, and agents of positive change in their respective communities.”
