Fire hits QC hotel

A fire broke out at a hotel in Quezon City early Thursday morning. No guest was reported hurt.

Fire Officer 3 Leonitan Tumbaga of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City said the blaze broke out at the electric room on the sixth floor of a hotel at Timog Avenue in Brgy. Laging Handa around 2:46 a.m.

The fire quickly spread up to the seventh floor of the hotel and was raised to second alarm around 4:07 a.m.

The blaze lasted for more than five hours before it was declared fire out at 8:16 a.m.

One of the guests said they were immediately advised by the staff to get out of the building.

Fire authorities said the total cost of damage to property is still being determined.

Earlier, one lane of Timog Avenue was closed temporarily due to the number of fire trucks that responded at the fire scene.

Estimated worth of damage was pegged to at least P3.5 million.
