“Our main task is to secure the residents of any harm perpetrated by lawless elements, especially that we are aiming to have a peaceful and orderly election,” the region’s top police chief said.
As he ordered all field commanders to perform their mandated task and redouble their effort in combating all forms of criminality, particularly illegal drugs, Cruz reminded field commanders not to be complacent to the threat posed by the Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs).
He reminded municipal chiefs of police and provincial directors in far-flung areas who are vulnerable to attacks to be vigilant.
Cruz issued the directives during the traditional New Year’s call at Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez here on Wednesday.
Cruz and his wife, Jennifer, received the top police officials in the region and their wives.
The New Year's Call is a tradition in the uniformed services that allows subordinate leaders to manifest courtesy and loyalty to the commander.
It is also an opportune time for the organization to renew its pledge of loyalty to the flag and the duly constituted authorities at the start of each year.
PRO13 Command Group, Regional Staff with their deputies, personal and special staff, provincial and city directors, Battalion Commander of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, chiefs of the National Support Units, Chief of Police of component cities, Station Commanders of Butuan City Police Office, Regional Executive Special Police Officer (RESPO) and NUPs were present during the call.
On the same day, the donning of ranks of the newly promoted Senior Superintendent Rolando T Portera, Chief of the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division; Senior Superintendent Randy Glenn G Silvio, Chief of the Regional Comptrollership Division and Senior Superintendent James T Goforth, Chief of Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division also took place.
