In a statement, Madrigal said the approval of their budget will ensure the continuity of their programs and operations which are vital in keeping communities safe and secure.

“The budget also includes provisions for the second tranche of increase in the salary of our soldiers,” Madrigal said.

“Rest assured that this will be put to good use and that safeguards against corruption are in place to prevent and punish wrongful acts in the management of our resources,” he added.

It was learned that the Department of National Defense (DND) under Secretary Delfin Lorenzana asked Congress for a budget of P183, 894,177,000, with the biggest slice going to the AFP’s line agencies.
