Amansec was appointed as SSS Commissioner in October 2016. His main functions included adopting, amending, and rescinding, subject to the approval of the Philippine

Prior to his appointment to the SSS, Amansec served as Labor Arbiter at the National Labor Relations Commission – National Capital Region (NLRC-NCR).

He graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the San Beda College of Manila in 1972.

After visiting the funeral of the late SSS Commissioner, Malacañang said Duterte then proceeded to the next chapel to visit the wake of Qatar Labor Attaché Henry Parel.

According to the Palace statement, Duterte expressed his deepest condolences to Parel's family and talked to some of the guests who were present at the venue.

Parel passed away on January 3, at the age of 70 due to coronary heart disease.
