Manila City Jail inmate dies on Friday morning

An inmate of the Manila City Jail died on Friday morning.

The police identified the fatality as Jeffrey Oatis, 42, male, single, resident of Beata Street, Pandacan, Manila.

According to JO1 Monico Daz, duty nurse of the Manila City Jail Infirmary, the victim was confined for diarrhea and tuberculosis since Jan. 9.

Investigation showed that the co detainees of the victim informed Daz that Oatis was already unconscious inside their cell.

Daz immediately rushed the victim to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Sta. Cruz, Manila but he was declared dead on arrival at about 4:10 a.m. on January 11.

Case investigator SPO3 Richard Escarlan said they will determine whether or not foul play was involved.

12 druggies collared in Caloocan

Police rounded up 12 alleged drug personalities in separate operations in Caloocan City on Thursday and Friday.

Three suspects who police identified as Gary Oliver, 40; Manuel Dela Cruz, alias "Junior," 60; and Jose Dela Cruz, alias "Batute," 31; were arrested in a buy-bust operation along Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City on Thursday afternoon.

Three sachets of suspected shabu and P400 marked money were recovered from the suspects.

Later, at about 10:25 p.m., police nabbed four people along Kawal Street, Barangay 28, Caloocan City after they were caught gambling. They also yielded sachets of suspected shabu.

Arrested were Prince Albert Alngog, 36; Randy Garcia, 25; Edwin De Asa, 35; and Anita Adel, 42; all residents of the area.

Retrieved from the suspects' possession were three sachets of suspected shabu, playing cards, and P140 in cash.

Police conducted another sting at about 11:30 p.m. at Barangay 160, Caloocan City, where they netted Michael Jabonita, alias “Jebo,” 40; Rizza Beato, 30; and Lisa Beltran, 56; after a poseur buyer transacted with them.

Police recovered four sachets of suspected shabu and P200 buy-bust money from the suspects.

On Friday, a certain Richard Villanueva, alias “Kulugo,” 41, was nabbed after transacting a drug deal with operatives along Adelfa Street, Barangay 132, Caloocan City at about 1 a.m.

Retrieved from the suspect were four sachets of suspected shabu and P200 marked money.

Meanwhile, Arnel Ilaw, 21, was arrested while two of his cohorts fled after barangay officials were tipped that the suspects were engaged in an alleged pot session.
Two sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were recovered from his possession.

Police said only Dela Cruz was included in the police’s drug watch list, while the rest are newly identified drug personalities.

The pieces of evidence and suspects were brought to the Caloocan City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit for proper disposition.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.

Alngog, Garcia, De Asa, and Adel will also be charged for violating Presidential Decree 1602, which sought to prescribe stiffer penalties on illegal gambling. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)

Chinese nat'l dies after falling from condominium

A Chinese national was found dead who allegedly fell from the condominium Friday morning in Paranaque City.

Police said the body of the victim identified as Guanghal Yuan, 36, was discovered by roving security guard at the 2ndfloor parking lot of Burgundy Mc Kinley Place located along Barangay Don Galo, Paranaque City at about 6:30 a.m.

It was learned that security guards at the said given place immediately called for police upon the discovery of the body.

Investigation made by the police found the victim sprawled on the pavement and suffered multiple injuries all over his body.

The police said that based on the inquiries suffered by the victim indicates that he fell from height.

The body of the body of the victim was brought at the People’s Funeral Homes in Las Pinas City for autopsy to determine whether the victim really fell from height or committed suicide. (Jean Fernando)

Man dies after vehicle hit

A 28-year-old man died when hit by a passing vehicle while crossing the street early Friday morning in Paranaque City.

Police identified the victim as John Mark Aurelio. He suffered broken bones all over his body and died while undergoing treatment at the Ospital ng Paranaque.

The suspect who is now under the custody of the police was identified as Ponciano Santos, 60. Reckless imprudence resulting to homicide was filed against him by the police.

Investigation showed the incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. along the stretch of in front of Cebuana Lhuillier located Dr. A. Santos Avenue, Barangay San Dionisio, Paranaque City.

Police said that prior to the incident, the victim was reportedly crossing the dimly lit street when hit by a passing Izusu close van with temporary plate number 034001 being driven by Santos.

Santos told police that he was driving his close van when Aurelio suddenly appeared and cross the street.

He also told the police that upon seeing that he hit Aurelio and the latter’s body was thrown few meters away, he immediately alighted from his vehicle to help the victim and brought him to the hospital for treatment.
