BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday released livelihood assistance to the local government unit of Madrid in Surigao del Sur province for the acquisition of a mini rice mill by the Bagsac Multi Purpose Cooperative (BMPC).

DOLE 13 Regional Director Chona M. Mantilla told The Manila Bulletin on Friday that Madrid town Mayor Mary Grace S. Kimura personally received the check amounting to P266,632.00.

Kimura thanked the DOLE for the assistance extended to the organization. She said the BMPC is known to be successful in other projects funded by the different agencies of government.

BMPC president Madel Dumahug is committed to closely monitor the implementation of the project, Kimura told DOLE officials in Caraga region.

The BMPC officials led by Dumahug are optimistic of the success of the project because there is no existing rice mill in the area. The BMPC will propose the provision of a mini corn mill to better serve the needs of the farmers.
