The organizers of Traslacion 2019 has released the schedule of activities for the most anticipated “Feast of the Black Nazarene.”
On Friday (January 4), the Quiapo Church released the schedule starting January 7 all the way to the actual procession on January 9.
At 1:30 p.m. today (January 7), the blessing and procession of replicas at the Quiapo Church will start.
On Tuesday, at 7 a.m. a send-off mass for the Nazareno 2019 volunteers will be held at the Quirino Grandstand followed by the start of the annual “Pahalik.”
The “Pahalik” is a tradition that is part of the activities leading to the actual procession wherein devotees are allowed to queue for a chance to rub a piece of cloth or kiss a replica of the Black Nazarene.
At 5 p.m. on Tuesday, an evening prayer will be held ushering in the start of the vigil at the Quirino Grandstand in anticipation of the January 9 procession.
The feast mass will be held at 12 midnight, Wednesday which will then be followed by the start of the hourly masses beginning at 3 a.m.
An hour after, morning prayer will be held at the Quirino Grandstand and the Traslacion will start at 5 a.m.
Authorities expect the image to reach the Quiapo Church at around 2:3o a.m. as millions of devotees are expected to join this year’s celebration.
