Man, 24, arrested by police in Mandaluyong drug sting
A 24-year-old man was apprehended by the police after allegedly yielding several sachets of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Mandaluyong City Saturday.
Police identified the suspect as Joshua Tabuquilde, of Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong.
Members of the Mandaluyong City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted a drug sting against Tabuquilde along Block 39 in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Tabuquilde was arrested after a police poseur buyer was able to purchase a sachet of suspected shabu from him, police said.
Prior to the operation, authorities received a report concerning the involvement of the suspect with illegal drug activity in the area.
Seized were four sachets of suspected shabu and the P200 marked money.
Tabuquilde is now held at the Mandaluyong City Police Detention Facility and will face the charge for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
Body found in Caloocan
A body of an unidentified man was found inside a garbage bag along P. Dela Cruz, Barangay 166, Kaybiga, Caloocan City Saturday morning.
The man was found wearing a red shirt and black pants. His hands were tied with packaging tape and a wire was looped around his neck.
According to a police report, a "concerned citizen" who was not identified sought police assistance after seeing the body stuffed inside a garbage bag.
Police Inspector Joe Mar Ronquillo, Caloocan Police Station Investigation Unit chief, said the slain man has yet to be identified a day after the incident, making it difficult for the police to move forward with the investigation.
The body was brought to Jara Funeral Homes for autopsy examination. Investigation is ongoing. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)
Village official shot dead in Pasay
A village official was shot dead just in front of the village hall by two unidentified armed men on board a motorcycle in Pasay City on Saturday.
The victim was identified by police as Jackielyn Antonio, 28, Village Secretary of Brgy 124, Zone 14, Pasay City. Police said that the suspects were on board a black Honda Wave motorcycle with no plate number.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at 5:10 in the afternoon beside the village hall of Barangay 124 along 16th De Agosto Street, Barangay 124, Zone 12, Pasay City.
According to Pasay City Police Chief Senior Supt. Noel Flores, the victim was just standing when the gunman appeared and fired successive shots, hitting the victim on different parts of the body.
The suspect immediately boarded a motorcycle driven by his cohort and sped away towards Aurora St., Pasay City.
The victim was rushed by her relatives to Pasay City General Hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival at 6:02 p.m.
Her relatives said that they see no reason as to why Antonio was killed. They added that she had no known enemies. The victim was on her second term as village secretary. (Dhel Nazario)
Tricycle driver shot dead in Navotas
A tricycle driver was shot dead by two unidentified men along Barangay North Bay Boulevard South, Navotas City Sunday midnight.
Police identified the slain man as Armando Belmonte, 57, resident of Dagat-Dagatan, Navotas City.
In a report, a witness identified as Dante Romero, 52, said he boarded the victim's tricycle before the incident.
The gunmen also boarded Belmonte's tricycle. Upon reaching R-10 Road in Navotas City, the assailants ordered the victim to pull over.
After taking a few steps away from the tricycle, the gunmen suddenly drew their firearms and shot the victim on the head. The assailants then fled on foot.
Romero, who was left unscathed, ran from the crime scene and sought police assistance.
The victim was brought to the Tondo Medical Center but was declared dead-on-arrival by Dr. Timothy Ventura.
A deformed fired bullet of undetermined caliber was retrieved from the crime scene.
The evidence will be turned over to the Northern Police District Scene of the Crime Operatives for laboratory examination.
