Albay Representative and former governor Joey Sarte-Salceda said he has received reports that he would be the next target of assassins after Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe was killed.

Salceda said he got wind of this as early as May when Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo assumed his post.

“I heard of it, too,” he bared after he was asked if he was aware of the alleged plans to also assassinate him.

Salceda said he has since taken a number of security precautions, including changing cars whenever possible and posting more security detail.

“I increased my security and limited my public appearances since he (referring to Baldo) assumed office May 5, 2018,” Salceda dislosed.

Salceda is a known supporter of Daraga Vice Mayor Victor Perete, who has become the lone mayoralty rival of Baldo in the coming May elections after the killing of Batocabe.

This was gathered as former president and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo led the Lower House in commending the Philippine National Police (PNP) for solving the murder of Batocabe and his police escort SPO1 Orlando Diaz.

“The House of Representatives deeply appreciates the dedication and hard work our police force have put in to go after the perpetrators of the despicable act in such a short time,” Arroyo said in a press statement issued yesterday.

Except for the arrest of at least five conspirators in the Batocabe- Diaz killings, police have considered the case solved after identifying Baldo as the mastermind.

Two suspects, who participated in the planning and execution of the assassination, have confessed and pointed to Baldo as the one who offered them and other members of the assassin team P5 million to kill Batocabe.

One of the suspects also reportedly revealed that Salceda was also a target of the politically-motivated assassination plots.
