Malacañang called for the public to remain united to help President Duterte achieve a comfortable life for all.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the statement 30 minutes before the year 2018 came to a close.
In his statement, Panelo also said that they are thankful for the blessings that God has given everyone, and that the Duterte administration was able to overcome the past year.
“As we express our gratitude to the Almighty for all the blessings we received in 2018, we welcome the new year as an opportune time to reflect from the past year’s experiences and draw lessons from the things that had transpired, particularly how successfully the Administration has overcome the challenges of the previous year,” he said late Monday as people were merrymaking.
“As another chapter of our Republic’s history is about to unfold, let us continue to be united in our efforts and prayers to help realize the President’s vision of a more comfortable life for all Filipinos,” he added.
“The Palace wishes all a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year!” he continued.
Panelo, meanwhile expressed gratitude to the Filipinos for remaining upbeat under the leadership of President Duterte. He made the statement after the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed that nine out of ten Filipinos are entering 2019 with hope.
According to Panelo, the favorable result only proves that people are not paying little or no attention at all to Duterte’s critics and detractors.
“We thank our people for this universal feeling of optimism under the Duterte administration. This proves that the demolition job and the climate of negativity depicted by the President’s critics and detractors, better described as the noisy majority, have little or no impact to the silent but much greater majority,” he said.
“Indeed, there is much to celebrate. The country’s marcoeconomic fundamentals remain solid and robust. There is construction everywhere in the National Capital Region with the President’s Build-Build-Build program already in its implementation stage. Crime rate is down and people now feel safer,” he added.
As 2019 begins, Panelo said that the Palace is confident that Filipinos will continue to rally behind the government towards genuine change and prosperity.
“We could only wish that skeptics finally see the good in the persistent efforts of the President for our nation, given that the results of which will not solely benefit his supporters but the entire Filipino community, including them,” he said.
