Police nabbed 8 alleged drug personalities
Police nabbed eight alleged drug personalities after receiving a tip about a suspected pot session at Block 18, Barangay Longos, Malabon City on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 23.
According to a police report, the Malabon City Police Station-Police Community Precinct 3 received a phone call from an undisclosed informant about a pot session at the said area.
Upon arriving at Block 18, police saw an elderly woman handing a sachet of suspected shabu to a middle-aged man.
Police were able to arrest the woman on the spot, while the other suspect was able to run toward an abandoned truck parking lot.
After police chased the suspect, they chanced upon a group in the act of using illegal substances.
Arrested were Cora Cordero, 60; William Batiansila, 40; Darwin Valencia, 34; Regie Marquez, 38; Rana Belen, 50; Darnel Armesis, 36; all residents of Barangay Longos, Malabon City; Dary Salvador, 23, resident of Barangay North Bay Boulevard South, Navotas City; and Alexis Buoao, 26, resident of Caloocan City.
Police retrieved five sachets of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia which will be submitted to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame in Quezon City for examination.
Police disclosed that the suspects, who are detained at the Custodial Facility of the Malabon City Police Station, will be subjected to a drug test.
They will also be facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)
Man on his way home shot dead, another hurt in 2 separate shooting incidents
A man on his way home was shot dead while another one was injured in two separate shooting incidents in Pasay City Sunday morning.
Victim Roberto Albano, 46, was declared dead on arrival at the San Juan De Dios Hospital after he suffered a lone gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred in Sitio San Juan, Barangay 190 Zone 20, in Pasay City.
Police said the victim went to Bagong Sicat in Parañaque City to talk with a friend. After their conversation at 3:15 in the morning, victim returned to his residence and while on his way, two unidentified men appeared and shot him before fleeing on foot.
Albano was then rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Authorities recovered two fired cartridge cases of caliber .45 firearm from the scene.
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage from the incident area captured an alias "Malik" and alias "Vans Lado," both Muslims and residents of Bagong Sicat, Parañaque City running away from the crime scene. They are now considered as "persons of interest."
Meanwhile, due to an alleged love triangle, a delivery boy was shot by a lone gunman while sitting in front of a varierty store.
Police identified the victim as Erwin Manalo, 27, a resident of Narra St., Sto, Niño, Barangay 145, Zone 16, Pasay City. Manalo is now under observation at the San Juan De Dios Hospital after he sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the different parts of the body.

Two alleged drug peddlers killed in Manila drug busts
Two alleged drug peddlers, including a member of a notorious gang, were killed after buy-bust operations in Manila led to a shootout.
Richie Inocencio, 38, ‘Bahala Na Gang’ member, and resident of 571 Domingo Santiago Street, Sampaloc, Manila died during an armed encounter with the police following a drug deal early morning Monday.
Initial report revealed that Inocencio transacted with an operative from Sampaloc Police Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) along PNR railroad track in Paltoc Street at about 1:35 a.m. on September 24.
Moments later, he felt that he was being entrapped, prompting him to fire shots at the cops.
However, authorities were able kill him.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Villanueva, Jr., 44, was also shot dead by cops on Sunday.
This, after his drug transaction with an operative from Raxabago Police in an alley located at Building 17, 5thh floor, Vitas Katupakan, Barangay 101, Tondo, Manila resulted in a gunfight around 3:10 a.m. on September 24.
Villanueva was rushed to the hospital but was later declared dead on arrival.
When asked for further details, Police Chief Insp. Rommel Anicete, Homicide Section chief of Manila Police District, said spot reports related to buy-busts are not allowed to be made public. (Ria Fernandez)
Tricycle driver shot dead by two motorcycle riders
A manhunt was launched against the two motorcycle-riding men who shot dead a tricycle driver in Quezon City on Sunday.
Police identified the slain victim as Bobby Erot, 40, resident of Barangay Gaya-Gaya in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan based on the driver's license found on the body.
Meanwhile the driver of the motorcycle was described wearing a helmet while the back rider wore a cap, a white jacket and pants.
Investigations showed that at around 1:21 a.m., Erot was driving his tricycle along J.P. Rizal Street in Barangay Santa Lucia, when two armed men on a motorcycle came near Erot.
The back rider then shot the victim several times sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and resulting in his instantaneous death, while suspects immediately made their escape, police said.
Follow-up operation conducted by the personnel of Fairview Police Station 5 (PS-5) showed there is a close circuit television installed in the area, however it was not working when the shooting transpired.

Police are probing death of man hanging in bathroom, woman with stab wounds
Police are now investigating the death of a man hanging in the bathroom and a woman with stab wounds under a bed, both found inside a room of a condominium unit in Quezon City, Sunday night.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District identified the man through his voter's ID as Augusto Songcuan, 51, married, and the woman as Maria Jamille Tan, 28, a call center agent.
Police said that the two were apparently lovers and living in separate units in a residential building on K7 Street in Barangay East Kamias.
Based on a police report, at past 10 p.m., family members of Tan went to her room to check her out as she was not answering calls and text messages.
Sensing that something was wrong, Tan's relatives borrowed the room’s duplicate key but it was locked from the inside prompting them to report the incident to authorities.
With the consent of the building administrator, personnel of QCPD-Anonas Police Station and barangay officials forcibly opened the door of the unit.
Upon entering, they saw the body of Songcuan hanging on the door of the comfort room with a bag strap looped around his neck.
Aside from Songcuan, authorities also discovered Tan's bloodied body with stab wounds slumped under her bed.
Authorities were able to recover from the crime scene a kitchen knife with blood stains that was possibly used in killing the woman.
According to the investigators, Songcuan is presumed to be the suspect of killing Tan.
They are also looking into jealousy as possible motive of Songcuan as he apparently saw another guy brought Tan home prior to the incident.
Meanwhile, cursory examination on Songcuan's body showed there are no external injuries except for a ligature mark on his neck.
Both bodies of the victims were brought to PNO Crime Laboratory for autopsy while further investigation is underway. (Alexandria Dennise San Juan)
Security guard arrested for pointing gun at cop
A security guard of a private company was arrested for pointing a gun at responding police officer in Marikina City Sunday evening.
The suspect was identified as Moreno Saycon, 23, security guard, a resident of Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City.
Police report showed that at around 9 p.m., Saycon was on board his motorcycle traversing the direction along J.P. Laurel St., Vista Valley in Barangay Sto. Niño when he accidentally bumped and crashed to a closed establishment in the area.
PO1 Paul Evaristo, 27, assigned in Marikina City PNP’s Tactical Motorcycle Riders Unit (TMRU) coincidentally saw the incident while traversing the same direction on board his vehicle. Evaristo approached the suspect and called for assistance of other police personnel.
The suspect however felt irritated after Evaristo told him to rest and wait for other officers while he was attempting to leave.
Saycon, who was under the influence of liquor, then allegedly pulled out a gun from his waist and pointed it at Evaristo. But the police immediately grabbed the suspect’s firearm and held him under arrest.
The suspect admitted that he obtained the gun from his office, without the intention to surrender it after work hours according SPO2 Richard Queseda, investigator on case.
The police then recovered one unit of caliber 9mm Pietro Beretta and one piece magazine with six pieces live ammunitions from the suspect’s possession.
Saycon, meanwhile, is now detained at Marikina City police detention cell, facing attempted homicide and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition charges. (Hanah Tabios)
Man gunned down in broad daylight by unknown assailant in Pasig City
A man was gunned down in broad daylight by unknown assailant in Pasig City Sunday morning.
The victim was identified as Gelbert Zoriella, 35, jobless, a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
According to PO2 Eric Goboy of Pasig City PNP, a witness who refused to be named, overheard burst of gunfire at around 9 a.m. in a residential area in Bolante 1, Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. He was then prompted to check the vicinity and saw the victim's body lying on the ground with lone gunshot wound on his head.
Barangay security forces then called for the emergency rescue team to bring the victim to Pasig City General Hospital.
However, he was declared dead after a few hours.
Goboy said some residents witnessed the crime and even saw the fleeing suspect. Yet, they kept mum because of fear.
The victim was also allegedly involved in an illegal drug activity. He was under the barangay and Pasig City Police Station's drugs watchlist according to authorities.
The Eastern Police District Scene of the Crime Operatives (EPD-SOCO) then recovered one cellular phone and one fired cartridge from the crime scene.

4 men selling stolen camera equipment on social media nabbed in 3 separate entrapment ops
Four men caught selling on social media a reported stolen camera equipment of a major television network were arrested in three separate entrapment operations conducted by the Quezon City Police on Saturday and Sunday.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr. identified the suspect as Zandro Cereno, 40, LED Video Wall operator; Jimmy Rabino, 37, audio man; Rocky Camua, 40, a freelancer; and Telesforo Bautista Jr., 47, a painter.
Police said that elements of Cubao Police Station 7 (PS-7) set an entrapment operation against the suspects at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in front of a fast-food restaurant at the Farmer's Market in Cubao.
Investigations showed that a poseur buyer made a transaction with the suspects through Facebook to purchase the assorted camera parts.
Bautista and Rabino arrived at the location with the items and, as soon as the deal was made, policemen initiated the arrest and recovered the parts and P7,000 marked bills used as boodle money.
During the interrogation, Rabino confessed to the authorities the whereabouts of their cohorts.
With new information at hand, another entrapment operation was immediately set by the PS-7 at around 9:30 p.m. that same day.
The operation led to the arrest of Cereno in Muñoz in Quezon City. Recovered from him was the P100,000 earnings from selling the stolen camera parts.
Meanwhile, Camua was arrested at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday at ACM Subdivision in Imus, Cavite. He yielded the P80,000 cash earned from selling the parts.
Reports showed that a representative of the TV network filed a complaint at the station and sought assistance to arrest and possibly recover the stolen items after they discovered these are being sold on Facebook for only P330,000, which is far from its original price of P700,000.
Supt. Giovanni Caliao of PS-7 said Cereno and Rabino were employees of ABS-CBN and that they were the ones responsible for stealing the equipment.
The suspects will be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1612 or the Anti-Fencing Law. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
Makati's 7th most wanted falls
The seventh most wanted personality in Makati City facing a rape charge was nabbed on Sunday afternoon, a belated police report showed.
Police identified the suspect as Manny "Magz" Valencia, 28, a security guard.
Armed with an arrest warrant issued by Makati RTC Branch 140 Presiding Judge Cristina F. Javalena-Sulit, a Makati police team arrested Valencia in Barangay Paltao, Pulilan, Bulacan at 2:30 p.m.
The policemen who nabbed the suspect were SP04 Donie Tidang, PO2 Leonimar Aguilar, PO2 Jee E S Javier, and PO2 Sean Bryan.
The presiding judge set his bail at P200, 000.
As per court records, the crime transpired on Feb. 23, 2018.
Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon, Makati police chief, lauded the police team that collared the suspect.
He said that their perseverance in tracking Valencia, who went into hiding, paid off. (Jel Santos)
