"Globally we are insuring people's health. Cycling makes people more active and feel healthier. When this came along in 2013 (after the 2012 Olympics), it seemed a great opportunity for us to be associated with something that could change a lot of people's lives," Jonathan Oliver, Prudential plc Group Communications Director, said in an interview with a group of reporters from the Philippines here.
"It's also great to see this spreading around the world, in Asian cities like Manila where people are starting to see the benefits of taking control of your health," he added.
Since Prudential Ride London started in 2013, almost 70 million pound sterling has already been raised, benefitting about 800 charities globally.

"On July 28 to 29, over 28,000 bananas were consumed, 29,000 Prudential bottled water were handed out, 20,000 pairs of Prudential sunglasses were given, and three million miles were cycled — equivalent of cycling from London to Manila 450 times," Oliver further said.
Pinoy athletes who represented the Philippines in the Prudential Ride London 2018 includes cycling national champions Jermyn Prado (Standard Insurance), Ismael Grospe (Go for Gold), Jeremy Genesis Maraña (CORRATEC), and Aidan Mendoza (CORRATEC).

The Prudential RideLondon Surrey 46 is an intermediate category open to cyclists not younger than 16 years old who are yet to conquer a 100-mile challenge. During the send-off celebration for the participants, Allan Tumbaga, Pru Life UK’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in the Philippines, said the company is proud for bringing to the event the company's "largest delegation from the Philippines" so far.
“Prudential Ride London banners cycling across London to encourage healthier and more active travel, and this is what Pru Life UK wants to emulate in the Philippines," Tumbaga said.
"We hope to raise awareness on cycling as an alternative mode of transportation so we can all work towards having a healthy, safe, and environment-friendly community for generations to come,” he added.
