CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Angat Dam’s water level continues ro rise and is nearing its spilling mark, prompting the provincial government of Bulacan to advise residents of Calumpit, Hagonoy and Paombong, as well as those living along the river banks to take precautionary measures.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, chairman of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), said that at 8 a.m. Saturday, the dam’s water level rose to 208.46 meters from 207.31 meters Tuesday afternoon.
Its spilling level is at 210 meters.
The governor explained that once the dam's reservoir reaches its spilling level, the dam's operator will schedule spilling operations to releaseexcess water.
Also yesterday, the water level at Ipo Dam rose 100.95 meters, (spilling level 101.00 meters), while the water level at Bustos Dam was at 17. 42 meters (spilling level 17.50 meters).
Alvarado said that the towns of Angat, Norzagaray, Bustos, Baliuag, San Rafael, Plaridel and Pulilan should also take the necessary precautions.
"Mas mabuti na yaong lagi tayong handa, kaysa sa magsawalangbahala," he added.
Last week, Alvarado called to the attention of the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) and K-Water which operates Angat Dam to coordinate when it comes to releasing water.
