Joed Serrano looks at Boy Abunda as angel in disguise for one very good reason.

In a recent chat, the actor-turned-producer revealed it was the 62-year-old King of Talk that ensured Celine Dion’s first-ever concert in the Philippines would push through. He said that when negotiations for Celine’s concert hit a snag last year, he reached out to Boy from out of the blue and explained the situation to him, hoping for help. Boy then referred him to Flor Santos of Dreamwings Entertainment and eventually, Joed and Flor, among others, became co-producers of the concert.
“Tito Boy is really the epitome of kindness,” Joed said.
Joed is an experienced concert producer. He was responsible for bringing Katy Perry, James Ingram, The Jonas Brothers, Boyzone, Michael Learns To Rock, The Stylistics, Korean singer Psy, “American Idol” finalist Jasmine Trias, Pentatonix, Snow Patrol, and Lifehouse to hold concerts here.
As far as concerts for local artists go, his first big production was Vice Ganda’s concert in 2010. He also produced the concerts of Alden Richards, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Jaya, Pops Fernandez, Jessa Zaragoza, Lani Misalucha, Ogie Alcasid, Ai Ai delas Alas, and Sharon Cuneta.

What is the difference in producing concerts featuring local and foreign artists? Joed said that while foreign artists have higher talent fee, in the end it usually give him less headaches than some local ones.
“Once we close the deal and the tickets go on sale online, all we have to do is wait for the day of their arrival. That means we just feel agitated for two, three days near that date,” he explained. “But with some local artists, even when the concept of the concert has already been set, they would have last-minute changes.”
Anyway, Joed admitted that up to now, he still can’t believe the success he enjoys as concert producer.
“If I had continued being an actor, I probably would have become a bold star,” he joked.
