12 drug personalities fall Twelve alleged drug personalities, including two minors, were apprehended during a drug bust in Quezon City early Saturday. Superintendent Rossel Cejas, chief of Quezon City Police District-Batasan Police Station (PS-6), said that they conducted a buy-bust against 17-year-old "Harold," an out-of-school youth, a resident of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City. Police said that "Harold" was a known drug peddler in his area. When authorities confirmed his illegal activities, operatives of PS-6 Drug Enforcement Unit carried out the operation around 2 a.m. in front of the suspect's house along Santa Maria Street. A police undercover set a deal with "Harold" and his father Robert de Leon, 39. Upon consuming P200 worth of shabu, arresting officers immediately nabbed the two. Other operatives arrested three other neighbors of "Harold," later identified by the police as Prince de Leon, 21; Prey Sanchez, 22; and Ricardo de Guzman, 42, who were caught sniffing shabu inside the suspect's house. Meanwhile, seven other persons inside the house were collared after police seized from them sachets of illegal drugs. Authorities identified them as Don Ramos, 25; Kenneth Tomas, 27; Danny Ballesteros, 47; Pina Macaraeg, 39; Ismael Alban, 37; and Alexander Martinez, 23, all residents of Barangay Holy Spirit. A 16-year-old boy, identified as "Cedric," was also arrested for playing billiards inside the same house and for possession of sachets of shabu. Anti-illegal drug operatives were able to recover from the arrested suspects 12 sachets of illegal drugs, aluminum foil strips, disposable lighter, marked money, and a billiard pool set. Apprehended personalities were brought to the station for investigation and proper disposition as drug-related charges are being readied against them, while minors will be turned over to City Social Services Department. (Alexandria Dennise San Juan) 2 poseurs victimize senior Police are hunting down two men after allegedly extorting money from a senior citizen while posing as local government employees in Sampaloc, Manila. Case investigator PO1 Danilo Kabigting of the Manila Police District Sampaloc Police Station identified the victim as Mylene Guzman, a senior citizen and a resident of 833 Craig St., Brgy. 522 Zone 52, Sampaloc, Manila. Initial investigation revealed that on April 17, the victim heard a knock on their gate and was approached by the two male suspects upon opening the door. One of the suspects, described by the victim as fair-skinned and slim, introduced himself as "Engineer Nicanor Reyes" from the Manila City Hall. Meanwhile, the other suspect, described by the victim as brown-skinned with a large build, did not introduce himself. The suspects then told the victim that they are conducting a permit inspection on the victim's house renovation after allegedly receiving reports and complaints in their office from the victim's neighbors, claiming that the victim's house renovation is illegal and bears no permit. After showing the documents pertaining to the complaint reports, the suspects reportedly demanded P25,000 from Guzman in exchange of not pursuing their inspection. The victim, for fear of getting in trouble, accepted the deal and gave the money to the victims who immediately fled the victim's house using their getaway car after the transaction. Upon realizing that she may have been scammed, the suspect immediately sought the help of authorities from the MPD Sampaloc Police Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch. Upon further investigation, PO1 Kabigting disclosed that no certain Engineer Nicanor Reyes exists in the Engineering Office of the Mania City Hall. Authorities managed to retrieve a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showing the plate number of the suspects' car. One of the suspect's whereabouts and identity was established, Kabigting said. However, further investigation on the other suspect is still on-going. PO1 Kabigting also appealed to the public to stay cautious and have presence of mind during such situations.
