The City of Las Piñas will be implementing a total firecracker ban on New Year's Eve on Monday under City Ordinance No. 1484-17 in line with the President's Executive Order No. 28.

The Las Piñas City Police will confiscate any illegal firecrackers as well as monitor and directly investigate any reported violation of the ordinance. They will also institute corresponding criminal complaints against offenders.

The ban prohibits the manufacture, display, sale, distribution, possession, or use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices to prevent firecracker-related accidents.

Violators will be fined P1,000 to P5,000 with imprisonment of not more than six months but not less than three months.

The station conducted on Sunday (December 30) an Iwas Paputok caravan which began at the Las Piñas City Hall quadrangle, in cooperation with the Bureau of Fire and the Las Piñas Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LPDRRMO).

During the caravan, the public was again reminded to refrain from using illegal firecrackers during the New Year's Eve celebration. They were also warned against the use of firearms and indiscriminate firing.
