ILOILO CITY—With the holiday rush, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured there is enough Noche Buena supply in Western Visayas region.

Felisa Judith Degala, chief of DTI-6’s Consumer Protection Division, said consumers in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces should not worry.
Based on DTI-6 monitoring, there’s enough supply of fruit cocktail, ham, cheese, and spaghetti ingredients. The agency also found that most stores are following suggested retail prices (SRPs) and there is no significant markup.
For safety concerns, DTI-6 is also urging consumers to check expiry dates of food items sold.
“Be very particular about that, especially items that have discounts because most of these products are near the expiry date,” Degala pointed out.
Meanwhile, DTI-6 is also urging consumers to check gift items such as appliances or anything with electrical components if it has Philippine Standard (PS) or Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) marks. With these marks, the products have passed quality standard checking.
