San Miguel Corp.’s (SMC) P24-billion Bulacan Bulk Water Supply Project (BBWSP), which took six years to build, will soon become operational by January following a scheduled inauguration to be led by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Administrator Reynaldo Velasco said that the phase 1 and phase 2 of BBWSP, the first major water project to be inaugurated under this administration, are now 97 percent complete.
BBWSP is a public-private partnership (PPP) between San Miguel Corp. and MWSS that is meant to provide treated bulk water to 24 water service providers in Bulacan province.
The concession was particularly awarded to Luzon Clean Water Development Corp., a consortium of San Miguel Holdings (80 percent) and K-Water Resources Corp. (20 percent).
