According to Misamis Oriental 2nd district Rep. Juliette Uy, only P200 million is needed for the completion of the bypass road, which is already 90 percent complete.

"Ilang tumbling na lang matatapos na itong matagal nang hinihintay na bypass road upang makaiwas sa matinding traffic ng Cagayan de Oro ang mga motorista, trucks, at passenger vehicles," said Uy, a vice chairman of the House Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Development.

(The most awaited bypass road that will help motorists, trucks, and passenger vehicles avoid heavy traffic in Cagayan de Oro will be finished soon).

"Our co-workers in the Senate and DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) know how crucial this bypass road is to the economy of northern Mindanao and the lives of Northern Mindanao residents," she said.

The lady solon said she "will make sure DPWH gets the funds for this in the 2019 with the help of Senate President Tito Sotto, Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri of Bukidnon, and Senator Manny Pacquiao who is the Senate public works committee chair."

Uy said the bypass road from Barangay Casinglot in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental going to Barangay Alae in Manolo Fortich Bukidnon is one of the key solutions to traffic congestion in the area.

Of the 17-kilometer stretch, 10 kilometers comprise a new road while the remaining kilometers are being improved.

Meanwhile, three bridges are being built to connect different sections as per the DPWH Region 10 field office headed by regional director Zenaida Tan.

Uy, in her capacity as member of the House Appropriations Committee, helped ensure during the budget deliberations the inclusion of the fund for the bypass road in the proposed 2019 budget worth P3.757 trillion.

The proposed budget for next year has yet to be approved by Congress.
