DAGUPAN CITY —The Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) here, the biggest hospital north of Manila, has been declared 24/7 emergency-ready.
Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia, the center’s director, said it also has the biggest emergency room which can accommodate 50 patients at one time, with another 50 beds ready for expansion.
Soon the R1MC will cater to cancer patients in the region.
Its eye center building which was inaugurated recently has treated at least 16,000 patients from as far north as Nueva Vizcaya and Baguio City.
Mejia said the center is also ready to handle victims of firecrackers this Christmas season, and provide free check-ups and medicines.
“The hospital covers the cost of treatment of “passive” victims of firecrackers and not of the victims who have been “active igniters.
