BATANGAS CITY— Ilocos Norte Governor and senatorial candidate Imee Marcos shared her plan to give priority to revive former President Ferdinand Marcos’ master plan to further develop Metro Manila’s nearby regions such as Southern Tagalog.
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos
(ERWIN BELEO/MANILA BULLETIN) Marcos said the revival of the master plan for development has started in the Build, Build, Build program of the Duterte administration. “Yung C-5 (road) yung original plano niyan C1 to C10 hanggang Infante Quezon yun, siyempre yung mga sumunod na administrasyon puro short cut, ginawang underpass, overpass, naging masukal yung mga kalye, ang sa akin lang bumalik tayo sa dating master plan at buhayin lahat ng kalye, lahat ng arterial road, connecting road dito sa Batangas at sa Southern Tagalog” Marcos told local media. (The original plan of C-5 road was from C1-C10 up to Infanta, Quezon, but of course the administrations that came after, they made road shortcuts like underpass, overpass, so roads became dense. For me, let us go back to the master plan and revive arterial and connecting roads here in Batangas and Southern Tagalog) Marcos attended the closing of Inter-barangay Mini-Olympics hosted by Deputy Speaker and Batangas 2nd district Representative Raneo Abu at Batangas City Sports Complex. She said her father had seen more development potentials in other regions outside Metro Manila which has already reached its optimum size for development. She cited the plan of Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas to put up a tri-modal transport by land, air and sea in the province that would definitely attract more investors in the province which is the driver of growth in the region. Batangas is one of the major power producing provinces in the country and has been the source of renewable and non-renewable energy. Aside from well-crafted roads and infrastructures, Marcos emphasized that low power rates and skilled workers are major considerations on investment. Batangas hosts SEM Calaca Power Corporation, South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp., Southwest Luzon Power Generation Corp., First Gas Power Corp., KEPCO Ilijan Power Plant, Maibarara Geothermal Inc., among others. Marcos said she would continue to demand for discounted rate on consumed electricity from host provinces as a payback to the community.
