Filipino skateboarder among TIME's Most Influential Teens of 2018

Time Magazine named Filipino skateboarder and Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal as one of the "25 most influential teens of 2018".

The magazine acknowledged Didal for her gold medal win in women’s street skateboarding competition at the Asian Games, adding that the Cebuano skateboarder "became a national hero in the process."

The 19-year old skateboarder earned the gold medal after ending with an average mark of 30.4 points.

"That medal would be the Philippines’ first Olympic gold and would help cement skateboarding’s status as a serious sport in the country," the TIME said.

Aside from Didal, "Stranger Things" actress Millie Bobby Brown, singer Billie Eilish, Olympic gold medalist Chloey Kim, "The Kissing Booth" star Joey King and K-pop group NCT Dream were also included on the list.

Time said those included on the annual list were determined by "accolades across numerous fields, global impact through social media and overall ability to drive news."

In 2017, two Filipino teens,  student activist Shibby de Guzman and YouTube star Bretman Rock,  made it to Time magazine's annual list,
