Magnitude 4.7 quake hits Davao Occidental

BUTUAN CITY – An earthquake with magnitude 4.7 jolted Davao Occidental province late Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake, which occurred at 4:13 p.m., was tectonic in origin.

The epicenter was located 174 kilometers southeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental province.

The tremor had a depth of 89 km.

Phivolcs said no aftershocks or tsunami are expected.

It added that no damage is expected from the said earthquake that struck Wednesday afternoon in that southern province in Mindanao.
