Disney-Marvel studios has dropped a new trailer for the highly-anticipated superhero film “Captain Marvel,” signaling Brie Larson’s official introduction to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as Carol Danvers.
The trailer was released during Monday Night Football (US Time), now taking the second spot on the worldwide Twitter trending topics. Lead star Larson, on the other hand, placed ninth.
Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
In the new trailer, Larson’s character Danver is a former US Air Force fighter Pilot. She begins to question her intergalactic life and identity after she start remembering her previous life on Earth — before she became part-Kree and a superhero..
The Oscar-winner actress was announced as the character during San Diego Comic-Con in 2016, though details of the plot have been kept under wraps.
Larson is starring opposite Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, and Annette Bening, among other.
“Captain Marvel,” the 21st film in the MCU is produced by Kevin Feige and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. It comes to theaters on March 8, 2019.
