CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – One hundred nine drug, robbery and other crime suspects who reportedly resisted arrest were killed by the police in encounters in Cavite province’s upland and lowland districts from January to November this year, the Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported on Sunday.
Of the 109 suspects killed, 85 were drug suspects and 24 were holdup-robbery suspects and those involved in vehicle theft.
The PPO Drug Enforcement Unit Monitoring Center said that there were also 4,780 other drug suspects arrested in the 2,719 operations that were conducted during the 11 – month period in the province’s eight districts.
The number of police operations and arrests of suspects was observed to have increased with the intensified drives against illegal drugs and criminality during the “ber” months.
