SAN JOSE DEL MONTE CITY, Bulacan–Eleven suspected members of ‘Gapos’ and ‘Akyat Bahay Gang’ were arrested in a separate police operations in this city Tuesday night.
City police chief Supt. Orlando Castil Jr. And Bulacvan provincial police chief Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna said that the suspects were arrested after a concerned citizen reported the presence of a suspicious-looking white van in Tungkong Mangga.
The police promptly repsonded and spotted the van and its occupants in the area.
A brief chase ensued and later led to the arrest of Gilbert Lacsamana, Jhon Jesus Laxamana and Leonard Barrios in Barangay Maharlika.
Follow-up operations later resulted in the arrest of Jerome Velasco, Marvin Patubo and Ma. Buena Sedico, Rose Ann Sioson, Rachel Laxamana, Gemma Laxamana, Mikde Adoy and Reginald Laxamana.
Recovered from the suspects were the white Toyota van, two flat screen television sets, two grenades, a .9mm caliber pistol, a.38 caliber revolver, several toy guns, tools and motorcycles, believed to have been stolen.
Meantime, the police arrested as Rose Ann Sioson, Rachel Laxamana, Gemma Laxamana, Mikde Adoy, and Reginald Laxamana in another follow –up operation.
According to intelligence reports,, the group is responsible for a series of robbery incidents not only in this city, but also in the towns of Marilao, Sta. Maria, Guiguinto and nearby communities.
Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado welcomed the development.
“Nakakausap kasi ng ating mga kapulisan ang maraming mamamayan at pinakiusapang makipagtulungan para sa ganap na katiwasayan ng bawa’t mamamayan at kumunidad (It is because the police is coordinating with the people, asking them to help promote peace and order in the community),” he said.
The 11 arrested suspects are under police custody pending the filling of appropriate charges against them.
