A suspected illegal recruiter was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) after attempting to send three Filipinas as domestic helpers to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
NBI deputy spokesperson Auralyn Pascual identified the arrested suspect as Arlyn Mondejan Gripo. She was arrested by operatives of the NBI’s International Airport Investigation Unit (NBI-IAIU) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last Nov. 16.
NBI-IAIU chief Manuel Dimaano said Gripo has been found without a license to recruit workers for overseas employment based on verification from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
She has been charged before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office for human trafficking and large scale illegal recruitment. Prior this, three Filipinas who she recruited were supposed to leave Nov. 16 for Dubai.
However, one of them backed out upon receiving a video of an acquaintance being maltreated by an employer in Dubai. The Filipinas then decided to report to airport police about the suspect.
