Like Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas Supranational Jehza Huelar bagged her title in the local tilt only after three trials.
“Now, with all the preparations I have done and the team working with me, we will see the result in December,” she told Bulletin Entertainment at an exclusive send-off party organized by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. at Novotel Manila Araneta Center a few days ago.
Jehza will compete at Miss Supranational on Dec. 7 at Krynica, Poland.
Though confident she’d shine in the contest, hopefully brightest of them all, Jehza acknowledged she is not perfect.
“My body is not beauty queen material type,” she said. “When you say beauty queen, she should be voluptuous. But then again, I’m working to improve myself. I’ve been working out a lot.”
Her confidence doesn’t depend on body measurement.
“I have come to realize we have different body types. And we need to respect each other, that not everyone would have ‘perfect’ body. At the end of the day, that imperfection of yours is what makes you perfect.”
Sister from another mother
Jehza is grateful to have found new set of sisters in this year’s Binibining Pilipinas court of queens.
Asked to describe her friendship with 2018 Miss Universe Philippines Catriona Gray who is also competing on Dec. 17 in Thailand, Jehza said they have become close friends.
“We have learned so much from each other because we have been sharing our realizations and experiences as we worked together,” she related.
With beauty queens being asked about their take on alleged sexual harassment in pageants these days, Jehza gave her two cents on the subject too.
“I don’t tolerate sexual harassment whether it might be of women, men, gays. I believe respect should always prevail.”
Jehza, who got engaged early this year, was asked if she plans to tie the knot right after the international pageant.
“Right now we don’t have any plans with our wedding or where it’s gonna happen. Although we have been talking about the list of guests and the usual stuff like expectations, still the plans are on hold,” she divulged.
Her priority is the Miss Supranational competition and until the results are in, that’s how it will stay.
How does her cager boyfriend of four years, Peter June Simon of the Magnolia Hotshots, show support?
“Even from the beginning, he’s been supportive. I know everybody is aware he’s the reason I am here now. He’s the one who pushed me to join Binibini again,” she shared.
“So I believe the moment I joined, it was a commitment that he will support me no matter what. And if ever I win in the Miss Supranational – and I know we’re going to win – I know he will wait for me (to finish all my duties first).”
