Momoland in Manila last August (Jonathan Hicap)
K-pop girl group Momoland will hold their first-ever fan meeting in the country early next year.
It was announced that it will be on Jan. 25 at the Araneta Coliseum.
The event comes after Momoland visited the Philippines last August for a meet and greet with Pinoy fans from their Facebook fan groups.
During that meet and greet, Nancy, Joo E, Daisy, Nayun, Hye Bin, Ahin, Jane, Yeonwoo, and Taeha answered questions from the media and fans, and posed for photos.
Momoland became popular through their song “Bboom Bboom” released as lead track of the album “Great!” last January.
Last August, the song was certified platinum by the Korea Music Content Association through the Gaon chart for earning at least 100 million streams, making Momoland the first girl group to achieve it.
The choreography for “Bboom Bboom” spawned covers and on YouTube, its music video has garnered 282.76 million views to date since Jan. 3.
Momoland is very popular among Pinoys. On Facebook, the group’s official page has 776,840 followers as of writing. Facebook released data that showed that as of Aug. 14, 53.4 percent of their 618,906 followers were from the Philippines followed by 14.5 percent from Vietnam and 3 percent from Thailand.
Momoland released the music video for “Baam” last June 26 and as of writing, it has had 121.98 million views.
