DND and DOTr sign MOA for various airport dev’t projects

The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the procurement and implementation of various airport development projects at the DND Social Hall in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Monday.

Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorezana and Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade officially signed the MOA for their departments’ partnership projects that will contribute to the Build, Build, Build program of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Through this joint venture, four initial priority airports are allotted P688, 022,500 for their development. This budget is dedicated to the asphalt overlay runway and strip grade correction of Laoag International Airport in locos Norte, extension of runway of Vigan Airport in Ilocos Sur, asphalt overlay of runway Cotabato Airport in Maguindanao, and construction of perimeter fence and embankment of Sanga-Sanga Airport in Tawi-tawi.

DND and DOTr officials were present as witnesses to the ceremonial signing – Undersecretary of National Defense Cardozo M. Luna, Undersecretary Capt. Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo – Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports, DOTr, Engr. Abelardo Sobe Jr., acting chief of Aviation Project Development Unit, DOTr; and Maj. Gen. Felipe B. Bejar Jr., AFP Corps of Engineer (AFPCOE), Task Force for Infrastructure Development.

Lorenzana expressed his confidence in finishing these projects on time and is hopeful that infrastructure development in other airports will be prioritized.

“Together, the DND and the DOTr will endeavor to give Filipinos a more comfortable life. As Tugade said “kasama namin kayo sa Build, Build, Build [program], at kasama rin namin kayo sa pagbibigay ng mas komportableng buhay para sa mga Pilipino (You are with us in the Build, Build, Build program, and you are also with us in providing comfortable living to Filipinos),” Lorenzana said.
