4.3-magnitude quake hits Agusan del Sur

BUTUAN CITY - A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck Agusan del Sur province Saturday night, November 17, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

However, the provincial and municipal disaster risk reduction and management councils there reported no damages or injuries after the Saturday evening tremor struck in that landlocked province of Agusan del Sur in Northeastern Mindanao region.

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was registered at 7:58 p.m.

The epicenter was located only 15 kilometers northwest from the town proper of La Paz, Agusan del Sur, it said.

The tremor had a depth of 52 km, Phivolcs said.

Intensity 3 was registered in Gingoog City, while Intensity 2 was also recorded in nearby Medina town, Misamis Oriental province, it also said.

No aftershock is expected.

The earthquake was tectonic in origin, the state agency added.
