GENERAL SANTOS CITY - Officials of a local fishing company here have sought the help of Philippine authorities to locate their fishing vessel with at least nine fishing crew aboard which had gone missing since October 31 while on a fishing expedition off Celebes Sea.

Bryan dela Cruz, owner of ZAVFI Inc. fishing firm, said the crew of FB SAVFI S2, contacted their base on October 29 wherein they informed their office that they were sailing back to the city’s fish port after completing the fishing expedition with a fish catch of some 20 tons. He said the fishing boat left this city on October 25 for a fishing expedition in the Celebes Sea.

The fishing boat crew were identified as Mario Ebanga, boat captain, Ronie Solano, Kenedy Rendal, Benjie Solatori, Nelson Laminero, Raul Oliveros, Jover Pistodyodas, Benjo Maruto and Nilo Jordan.

Dela Cruz expressed fears that the fishermen could have been intercepted at the boundary of Indonesia after their fishing boat developed engine trouble in the high seas.
