2 killed, 38 wounded in road accident

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two persons died and 38 others were injured when the cargo-passenger jitney they were riding lost its brake while enroute to the city proper coming from a farm village in the eastern district of this city Saturday morning.

Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) Emmanuel Luis D Licup said two of the passengers died and were identified as HamirDela Cruz y Delgado, 30, of Barangay Lansones and Elvis Delos Reyes, 38, who was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician at the hospital. The 38 injured others were rushed to different hospitals in this city for medical attention.

Licup identified the driver of the jitney with plate number JVC 534 as Dessy Jon Enriquez and was enroute to the city proper from Guisao when the incident took place at Zone 3, Barangay Guisao, around 7a.m. yesterday.

The jitney was loaded with farm products from the village and most of the victims were owners of the farm goods.
