A man appears to have tricked death after he survived a shooting incident in Sultan Kudarat on Thursday and managed to imprison his attackers by identifying them.
A police report reaching Camp Crame identified the victim as Fahad Mokamad, 26, of Brgy. Paril, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
According to police, Mokamad was walking along a national highway in Barangay Paril when one of two motorcycle-riding suspects shot him and hit both of his legs. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m.
The suspects then sped off toward Kalamansig town while Mokamad was rushed to Lebak Family Doctor’s Hospital in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
Chief Insp. Badrudin Esmael, chief of Kalamansig Municipal Police Station, ordered the establishment of checkpoints across the town to apprehend the suspects.
Hours later, two men onboard a Kawasaki CT 100 BAJAJ motorcycle with plate number MA 19273 were arrested after trying to escape in a checkpoint set in Kalamansig town proper.
Police then discovered that the two were the suspects behind a shooting incident involving Mokamad.
The two suspects, identified as Alimar Kalaing, 18, and Samsudin Tabunaway, 25, were brought to the hospital where Mokamad was recovering.
Mokamad positively identified the two suspects as his attackers, as the victim said they were not wearing helmets or facemasks during the attack.
However, the motive behind the attack has yet to be determined as the suspects refused to give a comment.
A caliber 9mm pistol was recovered from the suspects.
The suspects were brought to Kalamansig Municipal Police Station where they will be charged with multiple cases, including frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms.
