Two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members were killed and another two were wounded during an encounter against government troops in Sulu on Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Gerry M. Besana, Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) spokesman, said the encounter happened in Barangay Lihbog Kabaw, Panglima Estino, Sulu at about 5:08 a.m.
Troops of the 61st, 62nd, and 64th Marine Companies were conducting focused military operation when they encountered more or less 100 Abu Sayyaf Group members under Radullan Sahiron, Idang Susukan, and Almujer Yadah.
Besana said no casualty was listed on the government side while two enemies were killed based on recovered bodies and two were wounded. Also recovered in the encounter site were one M653 and one M14 rifles.
The captured wounded enemies were immediately evacuated to Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital for proper medical attention.
Troops continue to scour the area where the enemy was last seen.
“I commend the troops of the Joint Task Force Sulu for the unrelenting efforts to eradicate the menace of society,” AFP Western Mindanao Command Chief Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega, said.
