Ever since she was crowned Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach has always had her hands full with work. In an interview, however, she revealed that next year sees her up the ante even more.
Her new projects include a reality show and two movies.
“We are planning some things about those but unfortunately, I can’t reveal them yet,” she said. “But I assure everyone this is going to be exciting. We’re still planning and I don’t want to jinx anything.”
Prodded about her “leading man,” Pia said she is not going to be picky.
“Actually I have no idea who it will be or if I will even have one,” she said. “For now, I just want to focus on improving my acting skills. All I can say is this is something you guys will love.”
Pia has a long list of endorsement deals. Her latest sees her as Ginebra Calendar Girl for 2019.
The brand has always championed the “Never Say Die” mantra, and Pia represents same tenacity in chasing dreams.
She, who lost twice before getting the chance to compete and win the 2015 Miss Universe pageant, joins the likes of Arci Muñoz, Myrtle Sarrosa, Marian Rivera, Georgina Wilson, and Solenn Heussaff, who .have also posed previously for the highly sought-after calendar.
According to Pia, the brand’s long history has made it easy for her to say “yes” to them. She explained it got the Miss Universe organization’s nod to the endorsement right away too because of its longevity in the market.
“I didn’t have to explain anything to them (Miss Universe officers). They (Ginebra executives) were in contact with them. They pitched everything. They even showed the pegs for the photo shoot, sent the brand’s history. It all came out well,” she said.
The calendars see Pia flaunting her sexy body.
She shared it took her three months to prepare for the shoot. She goes to the gym almost every day.
“I want to look strong in the calendar. I didn’t want people to say ‘Ay, minadali.’ I took time to prepare, I exerted a lot of effort for this,” the beauty explained.
Asked about her definition of sexy, Pia said it’s all about confidence and “feeling good about your body every day.”
By next year, Pia is excited to see how far she can go with her fitness. Related to that is her plan of joining a marathon.
“I tell myself I’m gonna be fit next year. This is it. But it never happens. This time, there’s less pressure because I’m not competing (in a pageant),” she shared. “So let’s see how far I can go. I wanna live healthy. I want to discipline myself.”
It helps that her boyfriend, car racer Marlon Stockinger, is also into fitness.
“Yeah, it’s nice that we work out together. It’s a good way of supporting each other,” she smiled.
Bulletin Entertainment also caught up with Pia’s manager and beauty queen-maker Jonas Gaffud at a different event.
Hesitant to give exact numbers, he revealed that so far, Pia has about 20 endorsements under her belt. Wow.
“I don’t want to talk about the talent fees. I’m busy,” he laughed.
As for Pia’s participation to this year’s Miss Universe pageant, Jonas said they haven’t received any invite just yet.
Being with Pia for years, the beauty-queen maker said he noticed that she has became more mature now as a person. He described her as “makimkim na tao.”
“I even don’t know about her past boyfriends. All I know is, Pia has goals. She wants to be stable. She knows what she’s doing,” he explained.
He reiterated that he is not the type of manager who meddles with his talent’s personal lives, more particularly, on matters of heart.
Nevertheless, Jonas hopes that issues and intrigues stop plaguing Pia’s career.
“There are times she gets burned out. She’s just human. She gets stressed so I do hope she is strong enough to face all of these things.”
