The incorrupt heart of miraculous healer Saint Padre Pio is back at the National Shrine of Padre Pio in Sto. Tomas, Batangas for round-the-clock veneration until it is brought back to the San Giovanni Rotondo in Italy on October 26.
The well-loved saint’s heart relic was brought back to Batangas on Wednesday from visits to Cebu and Davao, where thousands lined up to pray before the first-class relic. It was then brought to the San Sebastian Cathedral and at the Capuchin Monastery, both in Lipa.
Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos encourages the faithful “to take advantage of this rare opportunity to pray before the incorrupt heart of Padre Pio” while it is still in the country.
“Let us welcome and take advantage of this rare chance to pray before the incorrupt heart of Saint Padre Pio with love before it leaves the country. Let us thank him for coming to us. Let us pray that our hearts be like his heart,” Santos said.
The prelate called on the faithful “to have a heart that listens, a heart that obeys, and a heart that suffers with love.”
“Saint Padre Pio literally listened, spending 16 hours at confessions. Even if there are those who doubted him, questioned his spirituality, and did not believe his stigmata, he still listened to them. Let us listen to those who need our help. Have a heart that listens first rather than complain or be critical,” the bishop said.
The heart relic of the popular saint arrived in the country from Italy on October 5.
