He filed his certificate of candidacy for senator, but later changed his mind.
Forty-five year old Geremy “Indo” Geroy of Pasig tore his COC in front of TV cameras, saying he had just decided to withdraw his candidacy.
Geroy, who listed driver as his profession in his COC, said he was withdrawing his candidacy as it was already enough that he is a Filipino.
“Ako po ay umaatras na sapagkat hindi ko kailangan maging senador para sa ating bansa (I am withdrawing because I dont need to be a senator of this country),” he said.
“Sapat na po ako ay isang Filipino (It’s enough that I’m a Filipino),” added Geroy, an independent candidate.
Under Comelec Resolution No. 10420, any candidate may personally file, at any time before Election Day, a sworn Statement of Withdrawal, in five original copies, with the Office where the COC was filed.
No substitute shall be allowed for any independent candidate.
Geroy was the 141st filer for senator, Wednesday.
